Business continuity planning (BCP) is the process involved in creating a system of prevention and recovery from potential threats to a company. The plan ensures that personnel and assets are protected and are able to function quickly in the event of a disaster.
The cornerstone of a Business Continuity plan is the business impact analysis (BIA), a method for analyzing how disruptions may impact an organization. The analysis considers the timescales of a disruption, as well as its intensity, and looks at the resulting impacts on important products and services; and the processes and activities that support them.
A Business Impact Analysis (BIA) will allow you to identify critical business functions and predict the consequences a disruption of one of those functions would have. It also allows us to gather information needed to develop recovery strategies and limit the potential loss.
