So why Z Horse

After much thought, and debate about several options, we decided to call our company Z Horse. When you see our logo you will recognize the typical Seahorse that fits us perfectly. We love that animal and the correlation with our GRC software. Let me explain why:

In Rome and Greece the Seahorse was sacred to Poseidon and Neptune, potent sea gods. As a result, one of the key meanings for “seahorse” is power and authority, particularly in matters of emotion and intuition because of the water element involved.

These tiny sea creatures can move forward, backward, up and down. They also have eyes that can look in opposite directions simultaneously, giving them the meaning of observation and awareness.

The boney nature of the seahorse is a safeguard and represents protection. And lastly, they are very loyal creatures and often stay with the same mate and group for their entire lives.

At Z Horse, we want to help companies get the power and authority to make well-informed decisions. Observation and awareness are part of our goal in modules like Risk, Cyber-Security, Compliance, etc. Flexibility and agility are two of the most powerful aspects of our GRC solution. Ultimately, we want to support the emotion and intuition of each decision that is made based on our solution.

When I see a Seahorse, I feel tranquility and peace of mind, and also I want to take care of it and protect it. That is the same thing we want to do with our clients, partners, employees, and every person we interact with.

Daniel Clark

Daniel (Dan) Clark has over 30 years experience in Financial Services. With experience in Citigroup, GE Capital, and two regional banks, Dan was able to develop international, national and regional skills in banking strategies and risk management. He is a speaker and contributor to industry conferences, publications and think tanks and considered an expert in GRC methodology and application. He provides training and mentoring to risk management staff and internal auditors. His book, Dare to Be Different, An Auditor’s Personal guide to Excellence has been well received in the audit industry.

Manuel Trujillo

Manuel (Manny) is Z-Horse co-founder and President of Swain Techs. Under Manny’s leadership, Swain Techs has achieved CMMi ML3 Development & Services appraised and ISO 9001 certified and has won over 12 prime contracts in six federal agencies. Prior to Swain Techs, Manuel was the Global Director of Product Management for Motorola growing a product line from $40 million to $400 million in four years. Manuel holds a Bachelor in Science in Civil Engineering, an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York, a Certificate of Special Studies in Management from the Harvard University Extension School, a Black Belt Digital Six Sigma Certification while at Motorola and Graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program.

Fabian Cardenas

Co-founder and CEO of Novasec, Fabian is a Systems Engineer with a Master's in Systems and Computing. He has 18+ years of experience in risk management, information security, and business continuity. He has been an ISACA instructor for the last 12 years and also holds certifications such as CISM, CISSP, CBCP, Certified Negotiation Expert Professional, Scrum Master, and Product Owner. He is a board member of ISACA Colombia.

Juan Escano

An economist specializing in risk management, with 10+ years of experience in the financial services industry. In 2009, Juan led the internal control system implementation at Scotiabank Colpatria, subsequently serving in multiple roles within the risk department. Starting in 2013, he went on to GM Financial, where he managed the risk and control framework and was responsible for operational risk, data privacy, business continuity, and internal control.
